A little over a year ago, I tore my ACL skiing. I was referred by my orthopedist to try physical therapy in an effort to avoid surgery. I am a pediatric nurse practitioner at Memorial Sloan Kettering. I have seen the impact of physical therapy with my own patients.
I was paired with Danny and he understood me from day 1. He taught me exercises he wanted me to do and being the type A person I am I did exactly as instructed. A few weeks in, I was back on the Peloton. I religiously went to physical therapy.
After 3 months of therapy I was discharged. The last day was me running on the treadmill for just a few minutes, but I knew I was back. I avoided surgery and was almost back to my other favorite activity - running!
On November 3rd, 2024, I ran the TCS NYC Marathon. I texted Danny hoping he would remember me and he did! I am beyond grateful to be back to running and the amazing care I received at HSS. Thank you Danny!
