I began running in 2009 and had a goal to run the NYC marathon before I turned 50. My running had been plagued with injuries with the most severe in 2012. The injury was a meniscus tear. I went to see Dr. Marx after trying physical therapy with no change in my level of pain. Dr. Marx recommended surgery and said that I had a good chance at recovery and would be able to run again. My surgery was scheduled for December 2012. I was nervous, but all of my nervousness was for nothing. I work in healthcare and know how unpleasant being in a hospital can be, but the staff at HSS was superior. From the moment I walked in the door to my discharge was amazing. I don't remember her name, but the nurse who took care of me in the recovery room was one of the best nurses I have ever encountered. In addition, Dr. Marx did a great job on my knee and I left HSS in less pain then I walked in with. I never even had to take anything more than Tylenol after the surgery. I healed and will be running my 3rd NYC marathon this November, Thank you Dr. Marx and HSS staff for the wonderful experience. I tell everyone whenever I get a chance that HSS is really above the rest!
