In the summer of 2015, I started having pain in my ankle which I later found out that it was due to ankle arthritis. I did a few cortisone shots but by the summer of 2017, the pain was unbearable. I knew that I had to do something since I am still young and can't possibly live the rest of my life in pain. I went to a few ankle surgeons and they all told me not to do the ankle fusion surgery since I contracted polio as a child, the surgery would be more complicated. In September 2017, I went to see Dr. Demetracopoulos, or Dr. D. for short, and had the ankle fusion surgery in December 2017. The surgery was a success. The recovery process hasn't been easy but Dr. D. has been there for me 100% throughout. Although I am still recovering but I can walk 10 blocks without pain. Dr. D. is an awesome surgeon. He is kind and genuinely cares about his patients. He gave me back my quality of life and I will be forever grateful. I highly recommend Dr. D. for anyone who is thinking about having ankle fusion surgery.
