Following my first surgery in Albany, I was still on crutches months later and unable to move my ankle. I was beyond discouraged and looking for an answer. Thankfully, a friend recommended Dr. Martin O’Malley’s name along with glowing reviews. My husband drove me to NYC, supported me while I crutched into Dr. O’Malley’s office and we eagerly awaited for our appointment.
During our consultation, Dr. O’Malley took the time to discuss all of my options and helped me decide on the best procedure to fix my ankle. When I left his office, I called my friend to say thank you as I choked back the tears. I finally found a doctor who listened, talked to me and helped me make the best decision on how to move forward. We decided on an ankle fusion and set a date for surgery.
When my husband and I arrived at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), the staff was attentive from the time we checked in until the day we left. Dr. O’Malley checked in with me the morning of my surgery and continued to follow up during my recovery. During this time I was also very grateful for the love and support from my family and friends.
A year later, and I am pain-free. I am overjoyed to share a few of the amazing moments: coaching my daughter’s softball team, hiking up the ski slope to watch my daughter race and walking on the beach with my family. I would have missed all these moments and many more, had it not been for Dr. O’Malley and his medical team. I am now able to play an active role in all aspects of my life.
