I had my first knee surgery back in 1985. Had it done locally. After arthroscopic surgery, I ended up with a cast all the way up my leg that weighed a ton and three weeks later, got a blood clot in my leg, was in the hospital for 7 days to dissolve the clot. About a month went by and my knee still didn't feel right, I then went back to that doctor and told him something was wrong. He turned around and said, "I've done all I can, that's all I am going to do." I dealt with the pain, then in 1987 I went to a doctor a friend referred me to, he was about half an hour away, he checked out my knee, he said there is differently something wrong, I can do the surgery. He said come back in two weeks for some testing. I went back and he turned around and said that he couldn't do the surgery, it was more involved. He then referred me to Dr. Russell Warren at Hospital for Special Surgery. I made the appointment, Dr. Warren checked out my knee and said, "Yes I can do the surgery." I then made the appointment for surgery. He did the surgery, there was a big difference from the first surgery, I had hardly no pain, no cast and didn't end up with a blood clot. He did tell me that eventually I would need a replacement. It's been twenty-six years later and it was time for me to have the replacement because it was bone against bone. I made the appointment. Dr. Warren checked out my knee, he said it was time. May 14 2013, I had the surgery, it's been almost five months, I just came back from seeing Dr. Warren for a checkup, they took x-rays, he said x-rays look good, keep doing the exercises, see you in a year. Bottom line to this story, I won't go anywhere else if I should need anymore surgery. I thank the staff at Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. Warren's staff, especially, Roseanna, Maria and Lois, and most of all Dr. Warren for doing such a great job on my knee.
