I had a total knee replacement surgery on my left knee on October 11th, 2017, which was performed by Dr.Friedrich Boettner. It was a painful process at the beginning, especially in the first 4 weeks after the surgery. I was seen by the doctor 10 days later and my knee was still bent at an angle of 45 degrees and he applied pressure to put it straight, but it was extremely painful. 28 days later the doctor checked my knee for the last time before returning to my country, the Dominican Republic, and I was able to put it totally straight with no help from my doctor and with very little pain. I continued my rehab religiously for 8 months and went to see Dr. Boettner on June 25th, 2018. He told me I was well ahead of my recovery schedule and to discontinue the rehab and to use the bike for 30 minutes 3 times a week.

On July 30th I practiced tennis for the first time in almost 2 years and was very excited to see that my knee felt pretty well and that my surgery was a total success. I just practiced for about the first month and began playing doubles September 2nd, and on December 6th I won second place in a doubles tournament at my tennis club. You can only imagine how thrilled I was. I want to express my deepest gratitude to God, to Dr. Boettner, the nurses, and the administrative staff, especially to Julia Dominguez for the excellent care they provided me.

I can now say that I'm truly Back in the Game.

Sincerely,

Junior A. Ureña
