In the Summer of 2020, I injured my leg while figure skating. Realizing it was bad as I couldn't really control my leg, I reached out to Dr. Metzl that same day for a virtual appointment (due to COVID precautions), and he arranged for an MRI the next day. The result was more serious than I expected - total proximal avulsion of all 3 hamstring tendons with retraction. Dr. Metzl quickly arranged an appointment with Dr. Danyal Nawabi, and I went through that appointment directly to pre-op and surgery that evening with Dr. Nawabi and Dr. Fufa. It took nearly a year of PT, and quite a bit longer before I was able to comfortably run, but I have been able to return to all prior activities - hiking, skiing, running, etc., which is a true blessing having turned 60 this year. I am extremely grateful for the knowledge, attention and quality of care at all levels provided by HSS which allowed me to return to physical activity without limitations and pain, especially as I now realize many with this injury are not as fortunate with the outcomes. HSS is the best!
