At the time of my surgeries I was 12, 16, and 17 years old. I was active in chorus and the school plays and musicals. The work that Dr. Scher did for my case of cerebral palsy truly changed my life. Before my operations I had a severely twisted left leg and I had trouble walking comfortably on stage. After my three operations performed by Dr. Scher, I grew into the confident young woman I am today. My recovery from the surgeries in 2014 and 2015 took about two and a half years. I had a grueling recovery process, which included the use of stimuli machines, harnesses and water therapy to help me learn how to walk again in physical therapy all the while making sure I graduated from high school on time. Now at twenty years old I am happy to report that I am the happiest I have ever been, using no assistive devices to walk, and studying Music Therapy at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. I also post on YouTube about my experience as a woman with a physical impairment. It is because of HSS that I am able to look at my recovery process with pride in my heart because the surgeries I had helped me learn about who I am and the strength inside people. It also helped me learn how difficult things people go through, like surgeries, can be worth it.
