I was terrified to have a knee replacement due to all the horror stories I heard about it, but had reached the point where the pain was interfering with my lifestyle. That's when I found my HSS surgeon, who reassured me that if I did what I was told by the physical therapist I would be up and about quickly.
I was walking a mile by the second week, and driving. It was nothing like the stories I heard. I did all the exercises I was told to do and ice, ice, ice. By the fourth month I returned to HSS and had my second knee done. It is now seven months since my second knee was done and I walk a quick 3 1/2 miles and I'm back at the gym with no restrictions except for running. I am so thankful to HSS for giving me my life back!! So, anyone putting off surgery out of fear get you life back!!!
