In 2009, after many years of injections, and physical therapy for my joint issues, I was referred by a friend to Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. Susan Goodman. She evaluated me and found that I was suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis and treated me with her expertise and utmost kindness.
In 2012, my right knee started to seriously hamper my daily activities. I am a avid walker and could not walk a full block without my knee giving out on me. I was then referred to Orthopedic Surgeon Mark Figgie. He examined me and said that the knee was bone on bone and that I would need a total knee replacement of the left knee. I was scheduled for my surgery and pre op appointments and then a "little Lady" named Sandy (hurricane) came to visit and interrupted the flow of things. During this time, when able, I was in contact with Samantha at Dr. Figgie's office and also the social worker at HSS. When things were back to normal, my surgery was scheduled for November 26, 2012. From the time I entered the hospital until the day of my release, I was treated with the best of care by Dr. Figgie and the staff at HSS. They are the best!
After rehab and PT, one year later I traveled to Ireland, climbed Blarney Castle and kissed the Blarney Stone and learned Irish Dancing. Should I need another replacement at a future date, I will return to Dr. Figgie and HSS. No words can express my thanks to all.
