My name is Jose Acevedo from the Bronx, NY. For the past 10 years, my life was a living hell. My right hip was always in pain. I developed hip arthritis and I was walking bone-on-bone because there was no cartilage left inside. No type of medication helped my condition. Injections, creams or pills did not ease my pain. My life was very limited, and my physical activities were non-existent. Things were so bad I needed help to put on my socks and shoes. The pain was so excruciating that it made me walked with a limp. People was always asking what was wrong with me. I got tired of living like that, so I mustered up some courage and make a phone call to HSS. I made an appointment with Dr. DiFelice because some family members and friends had procedures done with him in the past and they were doing fine now. The moment I walked into his office I felt comfortable with the care and professionalism. Dr. DiFelice explained to me why I was in so much pain and limping. He told me the pros and cons of surgery but he also told me something super important. He said hip replacement was the most predictable surgery in history and if he needed surgery this was the one he would like. Right then and there I made a decision to have surgery. I had surgery on 3/4/21. Since my surgery my life improved. There is no more pain, no more limp, and no more meds. I regret taking so long to do this procedure. It's been 7 weeks since my surgery and I just got back from a long needed vacation from the Dominican Republic. My wife and I had the best time of our lives because I was able to walk with out stopping and do all the activities couples do on vacation. So to conclude, if you or anyone you know is in need of a total hip replacement do it. Don't let fear of the unknown stop you. You don't have to live in pain, there is a solution and you will not regret it. Recovery is not bad or painful and you will feel just like I feel. Like a new person. I thank Dr. DiFelice and his team for what they done for me. HSS is the most amazing hospital I have ever been in. They really know how to care for a patient. They are the best of what they do.
