My name is Johnathan Dawson. On September 19, 2015, I dislocated my shoulder on the field during a football game between Elmont Memorial High School and Sewanhaka High School. At the time of the injury I was a senior in high school. I had surgery on December 2, 2015, at a hospital in Queens. Unfortunately the surgery did not work. By April 2016 my shoulder dislocated, and it proceeded to dislocate several times throughout the year. By this time I had been recruited to play college football. That summer and fall of 2016, my arm dislocated about 12 times from everyday activities. At this point I lost hope and began to give up on playing sports. My mom decided to try Hospital for Special Surgery. There we met a wonderful doctor named Dr. Peter Fabricant. Dr. Fabricant preformed a surgery called Latarjet, on January 18, 2017. Since the surgery I have not dislocated my shoulder, and I am comfortable playing sports. I no longer worry about my shoulder dislocating. I feel one hundred percent again. Thank you Dr. Peter Fabricant and staff for the excellent treatment and care you have provided.
