As competitive freestyle BMXer, my body takes a lot of abuse. In the spring of 2013, I had begun competing nationally. My competitions took me all over the country and gave me the opportunity to ride with a lot of pros! In 2014, I increased the time I spent training on my bike.
Many hours of riding resulted in a stiff and sore right elbow. At first, I thought it was tennis elbow. Then, one day I did a trick that I had done hundreds of times and the pain was worse than ever. I went to my orthopedist in NJ who took x-rays, an MRI and put me in a cast for a few weeks. Not finding anything, they sent me on to physical therapy. After several weeks of not making any gains, my mother brought me to HSS to see Dr. Daluiski.
Right away, he saw the "chip" on the MRI! The doctors in NJ had missed it! Dr. Daluiski ordered a new MRI and sure enough, there it was. I was scheduled for surgery on August 29, 2014. After MANY hours of physical therapy and several follow up visits to Dr. Daluiski, I am back on my bike!
I lost about a year of hard training and eased back into riding. On August 15, 2105, I competed in the Monster Energy Recon Tour at the Incline Club Skatepark (my home park) and took first place in my age division! I'm back to full time riding, but have learned to listen to my body.
Thanks to Dr. Daluiski and his great team, I am back to doing what makes me happy!
