I am a runner. During the summer of 2017 I had a tight hamstring for a few months. One night while jogging I tripped and felt a strange “pop”. I went to a local orthopedic surgeon who diagnosed a complete hamstring tear. He suggested I wait until he returned from a three week cycle trip. Fortunately I went for a second opinion to Dr. Anil Ranawat. He said the hamstring was completely separated from the hip. He didn’t waste time and wanted me in surgery the following week. Each week spent waiting meant a more difficult surgery and a longer recovery. I was in surgery the following week. The surgery was textbook. After six months of intensive physical therapy, I am slowly getting back to running. My experience has thought me to listen to my body better and trust the doctors at HSS. Thank you.
