Last spring, I started to get sharp pains in my left foot, especially when I walked on uneven sidewalks. I kept thinking it the pain would go away if I wore better shoes, but it got much worse. My husband was treating me to a Mediterranean/Aegean cruise in the summer for my 75th birthday, and I became worried that I wouldn’t be able to walk around the ship, much less the beautiful sites we were planning to visit - I could barely walk a ½ block without excruciating pain. I made an appointment with Dr. Rock Positano, who had previously successfully treated me for plantar fasciitis and a stress fracture of my right foot. When he saw me, he said I came very close to having another foot fracture! If it had fractured, I would have had to wear an ugly, heavy, hard boot for several months. That definitely would have put a damper on my birthday cruise! But I was lucky; he gave me a soft, comfortable, small boot and told me to wrap my foot in gauze and ice it when I could. He also prescribed Voltaren gel to help relieve the pain and swelling. My foot felt much better almost immediately, and in a month, I was pain free! Thanks to Dr. Positano, I had both happy feet and a happy birthday cruise!
