Following a failed initial total hip replacement in 2006 and a failed revision of that THR in 2010, I came to NYC to HSS in April 2015 for his opinion re: the hip pain. His was the 10th opinion that I received and the first that explained the reason for my pain. The specialized MRI at Hospital for Special Surgery showed problems that prior MRIs did not show. He showed me on the x-ray the area of metalosis around the hip joint that no other orthopedic surgeon had seen. He was knowledgeable, patient, caring, and communicated very well what the issues were and how they were to be addressed. I returned to HSS in July 2015 for the surgery. Whereas my hip pain was 8 or 9 out of 10 for almost 10 years, it is now 0. Although I have hip weakness due to atrophy of muscles around the hip from the metalosis, I now have no pain in the right hip.
