Having had a hip replacement 12 years ago, I was at the gym attempting a Turkish roll. My femur gave way completely, and I was in considerable pain and unable to move except crawl very painfully. HSS examined me and I was introduced to, fresh from the Boston infirmary, Dr. Seth Jerabek who said I needed radical surgery. To cut a long story short, he obtained an extra long rod from another facility that went from my pelvis all the way down to my knee. After some considerable surgery, I believe taking 5 hours, he rebuilt my femur area together with 8 clamps. Within three months, I was as good as ever.
Presently, I can walk five miles a day and ride my fix wheel bike up a three-in-one ramp most days.
