After years of progressive hip arthritis with daily pain, a pronounced limp and limited range of motion, I underwent left hip resurfacing in February 2013 (at age 51). I chose resurfacing because I am highly active, and hoped to continue to play ice hockey with minimal risk of dislocation. Within about 4 months I resumed skating, and by September I was playing club (no checking) ice hockey 1-2 times per week. I continue to enjoy my favorite sport on a weekly basis and have no exercise limitations and absolutely no hip pain. I'm also enjoying improved back strength and posture, along with a relaxed gait and much better energy for my "day job" (I'm an emergency physician). Thank you, Dr. Su and HSS!
