For almost a year, I suffered from chronic shin and calf pain and I was unable to run and play soccer comfortably or for more than ten minutes at a time on the field. I was diagnosed with Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome and opted for non-surgical management which included daily ice baths and PT. Unfortunately, I was unable to perform at my best and running was still painful. Thankfully, I saw Dr. Hannafin 10 months later and she explained how release surgery would help my condition. She performed the surgery this past summer and I am back playing soccer; I am able to play full games and overtime without pain. Thank you, Dr. Hannafin, for getting me back in the game. I couldn't imagine high school without soccer! And, running is a big part of my athletic conditioning so being able to run again is priceless.
