I had been suffering from pain radiating down my legs for a year and a half, getting repeated injections that only provided relief for a few months at a time. I had to stop playing golf and could no longer walk long distances. No one seemed able to offer a long‑term solution—until my appointment with Dr. Grabel. He explained that he could perform a lateral interbody fusion, and for the first time, I felt true hope.

I was already familiar with the Grabel name, as my husband had undergone a successful back fusion surgery eight years earlier with Zach’s father, Jordan. I knew I had finally found the right procedure and the right surgeon.

I had my surgery in September at HSS Florida, and everything went smoothly. The nurses were wonderful, and the hospital was extremely efficient. The first few weeks were tough, and I was in a lot of pain until around week five - then I finally turned a corner. Each day brought a little more progress.

Soon, I was able to walk around my neighborhood, sit comfortably and play cards, and get back out into the world again. Today, I’m back to all my regular activities, including golf and my full 3.7‑mile walking route.
