After my husband died, I set off for a carefree visit with my son in London. When I returned home, I had tingling and numbness in my fingers and feet and began to have trouble walking. An MRI revealed severe cervical spine compression, a condition from which I may have been suffering for some time, but managed to ignore.
My local neurologist recommended urgent surgery. I was in DC, and my family immediately brought me to New York to Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Han Jo Kim was recommended to me as one of the great spine surgeons. Thanks to the generous help of the HSS staff, I was able to get an appointment with him immediately.
Dr. Kim acknowledged the severity of my compression but was optimistic for my prognosis under his care. He reassured me that not only would he be able to completely relieve the compression, he would clear C-3 through C-7, and he would leave me with full range of motion in my neck.
And after a couple of weeks - sure enough he was right!
