I am an avid, active weightlifter and powerlifter, and have been for 25 years. It is not just a sport for me, but my ONLY sport. Throughout 2014 I had been experiencing pain and swelling in my right elbow. I didn't think anything of it, until I was bench pressing at the gym one day, when all of a sudden I felt a sharp pain in my right elbow, and I literally heard a tearing sound. Clearly, something was wrong. I made my way to Dr. Rodeo, and after examining my MRI, he concluded that my triceps was about 90% torn off the olecranon (elbow). Dr. Rodeo assured me that (eventually) I would be able to lift again, and he performed the repair surgery the Friday before Labor Day weekend, 2014.
Following the surgery, I had a plaster cast for about 10 days, and then a metal brace for about a month, Once the brace came off, I started physical therapy at HSS, gradually getting more and more use out of the elbow and regaining my strength in the joint and arm. From start to finish, the entire procedure has been virtually pain-free. I have completed physical therapy, and I'm now back lifting again! I am very, very grateful for Dr. Rodeo and all of his terrific staff members!
