They say tennis is the sport for a lifetime. As a competitive USTA 5.0 tennis player and owner of Fairfield County Tennis, I wasn't sure if I’d be able to play tennis past age 42. I was used to injuries, having 3 herniated discs (back) and a knee meniscus tear, but it was the hip labrum tear on top of severe arthritis that left me limping and barely able to walk. Local surgeons recommended a hip labrum repair. However HSS's specialty MRI wound up detecting my severe arthritis, which meant that a labrum repair would've been a poor surgical choice. Today, 1 year post hip resurfacing, I’m back to full competition with a level of flexibility that exceeds my surgeon's expectations. I’m also currently working my way back to earning a ranking in New England.
