I came to HSS after a surgery gone wrong in our local area. I fell in April 2019 and broke both bones in my left wrist, broke my right foot and tore my left knee. Eight months after the original surgery, I was still in a lot of pain and discomfort and needed a miracle. A Yoga student of mine knew the supply chain manager at HSS, who asked his friend (a colleague) who recommended Dr. Lee. I don't think I would have found Dr. Lee on my own and was so grateful to for this recommendation. My first appointment was on January 7th, 2020. My husband John and I were impressed with Dr. Lee and his team and how quickly everyone along the way cleared their schedules to fit me in for all the testing needed for them to understand the whole story of what was going on with my nerves and bones. Everyone I met from testing to surgery to post-surgery knew me when I arrived. Everyone, no matter what their job, treated me with kindness, respect, and understanding. If we had known how easy it was to get in and out of the city, parking, everything w/in walking distance, we would have chosen HSS first. My first of 4 surgeries began January 15, 2020 (my birthday). This was to repair the nerve cut or damaged from the first surgeon, and removal of hardware that seems to have been put in incorrectly or possibly moved during healing. I can't believe the immediate relief from the pain and discomfort. The second and biggest surgery (July 2020) was an osteotomy which really helped put my hand back in line where it should be and even better, took another layer of pain away. The third surgery (February 3, 2021) was to take the hardware out from the osteotomy and tendon revision. The fourth surgery I opted out of because I feel so good, and don't feel I need it for now. I am a self employed Yoga teacher and hairdresser so both jobs require the use of my hands. This has been a nearly two year long repair, even in and around COVID, but so worth it. I am forever grateful to Dr. Lee, Justin and staff and the miracle he performed on the mess of a situation I found myself in. Thank you to everyone at HSS for giving me my life back! And my handstand's back too!
