As a dancer I’m dancing all year round even in the summer. During class on July 28th while performing a skill called a front aerial, my knee dislocated during the landing. It was put back in place that night but I was in so much pain with lots of swelling. After being told I needed to go see a doctor I definitely needed to find the right one. After a lot of research and some time, we found HSS and the wonderful Dr. Beth Shubin Stein. She really helped my family and I understand what was going on with my injury and what needed to happen and how it will happen. I needed the piece of my patella that had broken off taken out and to use my hamstring to replace my snapped MPFL. Dr. Shubin Stein was so knowledgeable. We immediately set a date for surgery on August 26th, 2022. Surgery day came and everything went great. I went home that day really excited to start this new journey and PT! I started PT at home the following day and a week later I started at HSS Paramus with Dr. Wang. I continued with him for 12 weeks, seeing Dr. Shubin Stein in between, and everything looking great. Pain has all gone away by then, and next step was to start the recovery for dance. I went to Westside Dance Physical Therapy with Caroline Krumm. We worked so hard with progressing in dance and I saw her for about 10 weeks. By the time January came I was about ready to be fully back in dance. Continuing to build up my strength since then, now over 8 months post-surgery I am fully back to dance felling amazing with no pain at all. I really don’t know what I would have down without the help of the amazing l Best Shubin Stein her staff and my awesome care team. Thank you HSS.
