It was our first day of vacation in the Poconos with family on July 15, 2019. My cousin and I went out for a ride in the golf cart and a sharp turn going from the paved road to a gravel path sent me flying onto the pavement. My elbow broke my fall and the force broke my olecranon bone. I found out immediately that this would require surgery from someone who specializes in this. I was referred to HSS and Dr. Fabricant. They fit me into his busy schedule within a day. He knew that I just couldn’t wait and my 4 hour surgery required 2 plates and eight screws to correct. Because I am a dancer and member of the color guard in marching band he understood how important it was for me to have the best possible outcome and that is exactly what I got. After my follow up visits, multiple braces tailor made to fit me through every stage of my recovery and physical therapy, I was back to my usual activities within 6 months. I was able to participate in marching band season and perform with my dance groups. 18 months after surgery in February 2021 I had a follow up surgery in which Dr. Fabricant removed all of the plates and screws. I am so grateful for the attention and professional care from my physician and the hospital staff who treated me.
