I injured myself and completely ruptured the left hamstring tendon insertions off the ischial tuberosity in August 2024. The tendons had also retracted with a big hematoma, leaving me with a big gimpy limp. Dr. Anil Ranawat promptly examined me, told me the plan, and performed surgery just before Labor Day Weekend. Nearly a year later, this selfie was taken after hiking 2000 stairs (1.1 km) up Reinebringen with my family in Lofoten, Norway! I am most grateful to Dr. Ranawat, his team, and everyone at HSS who started me on this path of recovery with their skill and care. With the additional support of a great physical therapy team, my hamstring strength fortunately tests even higher than was expected after this difficult injury.
