After having right hip pain for almost a year and half and seeing numerous doctors, a friend of my Mom's recommended we come to see Dr. Kelly at HSS. I was, at that time, dancing everyday of the week along with riding horses and had started to lose strength and balance. It was really scary. After having some preliminary testing in Hershey, we sent all of the test results to Dr. Kelly and he thought he could help me. I decreased my dance, stopped riding (which was the worst part of this) and got a hip injection to see if any of that would help before going straight to surgery. It really didn't so we decided to move forward with surgery. I had my operation on July 26th 2013 and it went very well. I was actually on a bike the next morning in PT! I followed the instructions at home to a T as I really wanted to get back to my activities. I had to go to PT and slowly got back in to my riding and dancing. I was only on crutches for about 2 weeks. The pain was gone, and I was much stronger than I was before. I still may need the other hip done down the road, but I have returned to riding and even competing. Dr. Kelly and his staff helped me every step of the way, and all the staff at HSS was so nice to me the day of my surgery too. If I do need to do the other hip it will be done with Dr. Kelly at HSS!
