I’m a 31 year old working mom of 2 and I was about 10 months postpartum with my first baby when I fell down the stairs in my house carrying a basket of my son’s laundry. The minute I landed on my right ankle I knew it was broken but had no idea it was essentially shattered and was terrified to learn in an emergency room I would need surgery to repair it.
I was referred to Dr. Cody by a nurse I had worked with and called HSS the day after my accident. To my surprise they were able to have me come in the next day and I was booked for surgery a few days later. The entire process was seamless and the attention to detail was unmatched to any other experience I’ve had in healthcare. Dr. Cody and her PA Sarah explained the entire process so thoroughly and set clear expectations for recovery. My surgery experience was excellent and post-op it was so easy to connect with Dr. Cody with my questions about my recovery. It made such a scary, emotional time for my family and I so much easier.
Now a year later, I’m in a place I could never have imagined the first day I hobbled into the office on crutches. I have no pain or swelling in my ankle and the only evidence of the magic Dr. Cody worked can be seen on my x-rays. I love to show them off to my friends and colleagues occasionally for shock value.
My biggest fear as a mom when my accident occurred was not being able to keep up with my baby who had just just started walking. Now over a year later, I’m a mom of 2 boys (age 2 and 4 months) and I can certainly still out run my 2 year old (for now!). I’ll be forever grateful to Dr. Cody and the HSS team for putting me back together!
