I re-entered the game of life recently after many spinal and cervical surgeries. It required following rules, being hopeful, doing the best I can, and never giving up. I have been fortunate to have the support of my husband who has has been with me through it all (stopped counting at 13). Full recovery is a journey that begins when you go home home from the hospital. Rest, rest, rest. Physical therapy, is a huge component of healing, and begins after sufficient post surgical rest. HSS has its own cache of therapy providers that must pass their stringent tests. considered the best of the best. You can cut corners, choose a facility for convenience but after choosing the best surgeon the best hospital, it makes sense to choose the best therapy. Still, therapists can differ. It is paramount to find the right one. Therapy is difficult but the rewards are colossal. After a jointly prepared plan, therapy began. After a few months, I was ready to get back in the game. Above all, it is my life, to either improve or not. I'll never give up. If I had to do it again I would follow the same path. There will always be aches and pains but I have tools to help me along the way. Return to therapy is always an option and I am welcomed.
