Thirty years working as a registered nurse were not kind to my hips. My first hip replacement was done by Dr. Daniel Markowicz in November 2021. I enjoyed it so much (LOL) my left hip was replaced six months later by Dr. Markowicz as well. After the first surgery I was able to walk my dog outside, unassisted, four days later, albeit at a slower pace. Dr. Markowicz explained the anterior and posterior approaches, giving me the pros and the cons to both. I chose the anterior approach. Pilates has been my go to activity since 2017. I was able to return to this within a few months after the surgery and Pilates-based rehab. My experiences with both the outpatient and inpatient experiences were quite pleasant with nurses, technicians and administrative staff being very kind and professional. Wait times were all very reasonable. I will return to HSS if need orthopedic care in the future.
