As an avid and competitive runner, I had hit a frustrating plateau in my race times for the mile, 2 mile and 5k distances. Despite my continuous training efforts, I had become stagnant. My last mile PR was 4:48 in 2021. I heard about the metabolic testing program with Kate via my wife who works at HSS. After researching the program and reading of the success other runners had with the program I decided to contact Kate. The testing was strenuous but the data that I received, such as lactate threshold and a truly accurate VO2 max, was impressive. After less than 3 months of following through on Kate’s training recommendations I was shocked to run a mile PR of 4:35, taking 13 seconds off my prior mile PR time. I also took 26 seconds off my 2 mile PR from December 2023 with a new 2 mile PR of 10:02 (from 10:28) on 6/15/2024. The data and recommendations have been invaluable to me and my performance as a competitive runner. I highly recommend anyone who feels they have been at a plateau to research and invest in the HSS metabolic testing program.
