I was having pain, on and off, in my left hip for years. After consulting with my orthopedic doctor, it became apparent that I would need a hip replacement. I was shocked since I have been very active (running, working out) my whole life. I put my surgery off for as long as I could bare, I was in a lot of pain. My orthopedic doctor recommended his colleague that did hip surgery.

I have never had surgery so I wanted to consult a few doctors before I made my decision. I did a lot of research on the different procedures, and spoke with people who had hip surgery. My nephew and sister-in-law had knee surgery at HSS and did not say anything negative. They both were bragging, in a way, about their experience.

I went with Dr. McLawhorn because of his professionalism and straightforward approach. He made me feel very comfortable. The day of my surgery went as planned and my overnight stay was so awesome, I wanted to stay another night. The staff was so attentive and helpful and the hospital was so clean!

I know I will have to have my other hip done, and will have Dr. McLawhorn do that one too.

Now I brag about my experience at HSS and Dr. McLawhorn!
