After spending close to a year under the care of a sports medicine physician at another provider, which included a year of physical therapy from 2 different providers, the second PT suggested I consider hip replacement surgery, which was not something the sports medicine physician recommended.
The physical therapist, a former dancer, told me had both his hips successfully replaced at HSS and highly recommend them. I first saw Dr. Stephanie Buza, who recommended hip replacement. She provided me with a short list of HSS surgeons, which included Dr. Gausden’s name. Prior to me seeing Dr. Buza, I had already begun researching the hip surgeons at HSS and had Dr. Gausden on my own short list. Separately, my bother-in-law’s niece works at HSS. When shown my list of surgeons, she indicated that Dr. Gausden was the best of the surgeons. I chose Dr. Gausden based on her qualifications, credentials, referrals, and demeanor.
The surgery was a complete success. I went into HSS at 5:30 AM and was home by 3:00 PM the same day. It’s been 4 weeks since surgery and today I am able to walk without a cane and with absolutely no pain. In fact, post-surgery my pain level never exceeded 6 or 7. Prior to surgery my pain level was 8-9 every day. For the past 2 weeks it has been zero. The only pain medication I took was acetaminophen. My focus now is to build my strength and eliminate a slight limp that is a result from a year of limping everywhere.
I’d like to thank Dr. Gausden for changing my life she is a true superstar. I also thank Dr. Buza and Dr. Linda Russell for their expert care and advice. I also thank all the physician assistants, nurses, anesthesiologist, radiologists, the admissions staff at all HSS locations, the staff that keeps the hospital in great shape and the security personnel who keep the hospital safe and secure and make drop off and pick up seamless.
HSS is a well run hospital where all employees are professional in their field. I definitely felt I was in the right place for care and you all proved it to be true.
Thank you to all and thank you specifically, Dr. Gausden.
