I was a very active 20 something with a fiance and a young son. Paintball, running, etc. I unfortunately had a car accident in November of 2006. My L4/L5 was herniated and prolapsed, had massive sciatic pain and lots of numbness in my legs. After trying many non surgical treatments for four years, I had a fusion completed at an area hospital in mid-2010 and revised 6 months later, only to have the fusion fail yet again. The screws had loosened and bone never grew. In 2013, my stepsister insisted I call HSS. Dr. Huang saw me and took on my case. February 2014 they completely revised my fusion with new hardware and an ALIF. Now two years later I stepped back onto the paintball field with my teammates and my now teenage son who was playing for the first time. Fully healed and feeling great, I got to share a unique sport with him and show him I am truly Back In The Game. We had so much fun together. We are also a family of five, so I can truly enjoy my wife and all three of my kids.
