I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type III and my knee was very deformed after a bad fall in 2011. At first I was told nothing could be done for my knee due to OI. Fortunately I learned in Fall of 2017 that a custom knee was now an option. The following May the knee was ready. The surgery went smoothly and now my knee works great and I have been able to be independent walking at home again pain-free. Due to risk of fractures with brittle bones, I use a wheelchair outside, but also enjoy walking on the sand along the shore, and being able to get out of my chair if/as needed when encountering an environment that is not wheelchair friendly.
