I am an avid tennis player, teaching pro and high school tennis coach. When pain persisted in my leg for months, I went to 11 different doctors to determine the cause (e.g. orthopedists, neurologists, a pain management doctor for lumbar injections, EMG specialists, spine specialist, etc.). I found Dr. Haas at HSS through extensive research who determined that I needed a total knee replacement and that the extreme pain in my left calf was “a result of referred pain.” I had the operation in 2/18, started coaching 12 days later and playing tennis 2 months later (albeit not at my normal skill level). The left leg calf pain is a distant memory and I am improving weekly. It is a tough operation, both physically and mentally, but I’m certain I received the very best care possible.
