I began as a patient of Dr. Metzl for hip and knee pain. He gave me Euflexxa shots for my knee arthritis and it worked wonderfully. It got me back into the game of basketball, which I love so much. As time went on, my hip arthritis got worse and I needed to get it replaced. He put me in touch with Dr. Doug Padgett, a top hip surgeon at HSS, and our rapport was excellent from the first meeting. He exudes confidence, as well as the right amount of empathy. My surgery went extremely well and I was amazed that I was up and walking around within a couple of days. My rehab was fairly quick, mainly because I had relatively little pain. Dr. Padgett's skill had a lot to do with that.

Although I don't wish this (or any other) surgery on anyone, the experience was as good as I possibly could have expected. The staff at HSS are undoubtedly the best.

The following Summer, I was able to hike St. Moritz in Switzerland with my family. This would have been unheard of only 9 months before.
