After years of an active lifestyle and regular attendance at the gym, severe hip pain was impairing my ability to even walk. After a local consult and steroid injections, a colleague recommended that I see Dr. Westrich. My experience was amazing, starting with his office staff. They were respectful of me and accommodating of my schedule. As we moved forward toward surgery, they handled all of the administrative details with my insurance carrier. Dr. Westrich was very kind and caring, and he managed all of my expectations about the surgery and recovery period. The surgery was successful. I was walking within a few hours, and reading and doing crossword puzzles that evening. The nursing staff was very kind and attentive, ensuring that I was completely comfortable and that there was no risk of a fall. The hospital environment, staff and procedures were structured to minimize the risk of infection. I went home the day after surgery and my pain was managed completely with Tylenol. At my six week, post-surgical check-up, I walked 2 miles from Grand Central Terminal to the hospital. I was back to the gym by 8 weeks, and have never looked back. My wife and I are forever grateful for the wonderful care that I received from everyone at HSS.
