I've suffered with flat feet for the last decade. As an amateur auto racer, my "throttle" foot is particularly important. My foot needs to be very precise when pushing the throttle and also very strong combined with sensitive "feel" when pressing the brake pedal. And I need to push both pedals at the same time when downshifting for a corner, a process called "heel and toe" (toes on the brake pedal while pushing the throttle to raise the engine revs to match the revs when i select the lower gear and release the clutch).
I have done this for so many years. It was an automatic response until one day at the track, it wasn't. I had to do something about it.
I saw Dr. Cody and she assured me that she could fix the issue. She was very forthright on the recovery and possible limitations in the future. It played out exactly as she said. My surgery date was 2/20/2024. By August 3rd, I was back in the racecar. By Labor Day Weekend, I was at my first race post-surgery. First race back, first place overall! The only thing I'd do differently is to have done the reconstruction surgery earlier. Thanks to Dr. Cody and the entire Stamford team. I literally couldn't have done it without you!
