On October 9th 2017 at 8am I was wheeled into operating room #16 at Hospital for Special Surgery for my total right hip replacement. My surgeon was Dr. Allan Inglis who specializes in hip and knee replacements and in my opinion the best surgeon in the world. The surgery lasted about 3 hours from start to finish and by 5pm the day of my surgery, I was up and walking around the floor my hospital room was located on with my new hip. By 1pm the next day, I was discharged from the hospital and on my way to recovery.
After one month from getting my replacement, I am walking pain-free and cleared by Dr. Inglis to do anything I want - play golf, run, swim, work out, and best of all, I am pain-free. Given the abuse I put on my body as a young man and being a professional athlete, I will need my left hip replaced in about two years time. All I can say is Dr. Inglis should be ready for the call when I say it's time to replace hip #2. It also goes without saying that the team that made my hip is on the leading edge of innovation. Anyone considering a total hip replacement should contact HSS and ask for Dr Inglis and the hip team.
