I was suffering from a severely herniated disc at L5-S1 which was causing muscle atrophy/weakness in my left leg and radiating back pain. I was dealing with a surgeon close to home who would see me on average 3-4 minutes at a time before rushing off to his next patient. After failing with oral steroids, physical therapy and steroid injections I was told surgery was my only other option and felt like I was being rushed into the procedure.
I am so happy that I got a second opinion from Dr. Huang. At my first consultation he took almost 45 minutes to meet with me and explain all my options and the weighed the pros and cons of each. He thoroughly explained my MRI results, surgical procedure and post-op recovery and put my mind at ease that I was making the right decision to ultimately go through with surgery.
I had a microdiscectomy laminectomy performed by Dr. Huang on 7/31/18. The procedure was a complete success and everything went according to schedule. After the procedure the doctor gave me his cell phone number and told me not to hesitate to ask him any questions I have during the recovery process via text messaging. He responded to my text messages within a few hours and was always available even on weekend. Hands down one of the best doctors I have met with.
I am now 6 weeks out of surgery with zero back pain and zero nerve pain in my left leg. I am now cleared to start physical therapy to strengthen my back and am on track from a complete recovery within 6 more weeks.
His staff are top notch and were always available to answer all my questions from scheduling visits to insurance coverage and what exactly I would be responsible for paying. I cannot recommend this doctor and his staff enough.
