After 20 years of excruciating pain, I was lucky to find Dr. Warren. He looked at my x-rays and knew immediately that my shoulder had severe arthritis. The shoulder joint was destroyed; I needed a reverse total shoulder replacement.
The process leading up to surgery was easy, and the surgery itself was scheduled pretty quickly. Everyone took their time to explain everything I needed to know, including the anesthesiologists (I had two, and they were very specific and clear, asked a lot of questions and answered all of mine).
In pre-op, they were listening to music, and the last thing I heard was John Denver singing, "Country road, take me home." Next thing I knew, I was awake in post-op. It felt like it was two minutes long. The nurses were wonderful, the PT who came to see me before I left was thorough, and things have been smooth sailing ever since.
I had virtually no pain, and only took pain meds for the first two days (until I realized that I wasn't in any pain).
I can't believe I spent 20 years in pain, and now I feel really great. I was in PT just six weeks after surgery, doing yardwork and all the basic stuff by three months. Now, I'm back to playing golf, swimming, throwing a frisbee, and working out, and it's only been five months since surgery.
Thank you, Dr. Warren! You're the best!
