My son Cole lost the use of his right hand due to a rare autoimmune disease. Over the course of 4 years his hand atrophied and his thumb became completely immobile. For a vibrant and outgoing young man, the loss of his dominant hand and his ability to grip was devastating.
On June 11, 2019, Dr. Wolfe performed a tendon transfer from his middle finger to his thumb. On June 21, we went back for the big reveal. Watching the look on Cole's face when he discovered that he could move his thumb for the first time in 4 years was incredible.
I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Wolfe and his team at HSS for their care of my son. Dr Wolfe's skill changed my son's life.
Warm regards,
Nicole Reynolds
