A torn quadriceps resulting from a fall produced pain, severe swelling and the assurance from everyone that I was in for an extended period of incapacity. The injury took place on April 13, 2018 (Friday the 13th!). On May 1, 2018 I had surgery at HSS completed by Dr. Gregory DiFelice. I was mobile (albeit in a leg brace) the same day and have quickly progressed to where I'm now enjoying the activities of a summer I had written off based upon the experiences of everyone else I'd met who had the same injury. The brace was off in 5 1/2 weeks. I was flying around Manahawkin Bay on my waverunner the next weekend. I'm grateful to Dr. DiFelice, Robert O'Brien (PA) and all of the highly competent professionals at HSS who enabled my quick recovery. My experience has amazed the 4 other people I've met who had the same injury but experienced considerably longer recovery times.
