I have been a professional squash player competing on the PSA World Tour for almost 3 years now. Last winter I was playing the best squash of my life and had climbed the rankings to a career high of #66 in the world.
Unfortunately, I was met with a setback in March in the form of a partially torn ligament in my right ankle. After three weeks of PT in Greenwich (CT), I didn't feel like I was getting better - I even started to feel pain in a new area of my ankle. I knew it was well past time that I went to HSS - I had gone to HSS three years prior to have a PRP injection in my left hamstring, which allowed me to get my squash career off the ground.
When I first met with Dr. Positano, I was pretty down about my squash career being waylaid, and wasn't sure what to do. I was contemplating getting surgery after hearing a few other doctors' opinions, but Dr. Positano looked me straight in the eyes and said point blank, "We can fix this without surgery." That was the kind of confidence I was looking for and needed, and from that point on I never looked back.
After three months of work, I was back on the court training again. It wasn't an easy process getting there, but I just kept trusting that I was in the best hands with Dr. Positano. I am now back to competition and training full-time (2-3 times a day, 6 days a week) and, most importantly, pain-free. I still go see Dr. Positano regularly to make sure I am preventing reinjury/new injury.
I can't thank Dr. Positano and his team enough - in my time of injury and doubt about my future in squash, they were there to pick me up and get me back in the game.
