Toward the end of my junior season, I tore my ACL while playing high school lacrosse. I was being actively recruited by Division I lacrosse programs and in just a split second, the exciting future that lay ahead was suddenly at risk. Behind the very real emotions that consume an athlete following an injury was one determined truth. I would seek the best care to play again and come back stronger. A friend recommended HSS and it was the best decision ever made. From the very first contact with Dr. Robert Marx's office, the experience was nothing short of incredible. Dr. Marx's expertise and experience are unparalleled. The office staff provided a personal touch and handled all of the logistics and insurance navigation. During our consult, Dr. Marx demonstrated strong confidence in doing my ACL reconstruction without sacrificing compassion for the human side of my injury. I never felt like "one more case." The team at HSS had my back and put my worries at ease.
After Dr. Marx did some of his best work in surgery, I transitioned to the HSS physical therapy team and worked with Chelsea Long. Using state of the art technology, HSS established a baseline for my return to play regimen. Chelsea was unforgiving and instrumental in rebuilding my strength, balance, and agility. After nine months I was able to step back onto the lacrosse field for the first game of my senior season with full confidence. My season culminated in US Lacrosse All-American recognition and I am now competing at the Division I collegiate level.
