I had been involved in a number of sports throughout my youth both contact and non-contact. Prior injuries finally caught up with me...I had been diagnosed with a completely deteriorated right shoulder which would need to be replaced. Knowing Dr. Altchek and his excellent team, I had every confidence in the outcome meeting all expectations. Prior to the surgery I could not lift my right arm higher than chest level without pain and sleep was impossible. All of which completely wrecked my golf game going from a high single digit to a 20+ USGA handicap. Pretty disappointing.

My surgery was early November 2013. I followed Dr. Altchek's regimen to the letter for rehab and found I gained almost 100% flexibility in the new shoulder. I am still working on gaining greater strength in exercises. A great by-product from the surgery is I regained my form on the golf course...in the summer of 2014 I was able to take 1st in my flight at the HPGC Championship, 1st in the match play championship and also win an Invitational golf tournament (we call it the Zen Cup) at the end of the year. The members razed me about taking advantage of them using my "bionic arm".

I now urge everyone with joint issues to taken action and not delay replacement surgery. It has significantly increased the quality of my life and that of my family as well.
