So everyone I spoke to before I had my hip replacement said, "Go to HSS they are the best." I thought, "Oh well, what could be so different from hospital to hospital?" As I work in the restaurant industry, my experiences to date with the medical field did not illuminate service and hospitality. I did not expect the treatment I received at HSS - it was outstanding. Every person I met with had time, patience and understanding for ME, even though they do this every day with lots of other "ME's". Dr. Alberto Carli was amazing. He is a doctor who can be trusted to be your advocate for surgery and recovery. He first met me in August 2018 and I admitted that I was in denial that I needed a hip replacement. He was patient and kind with us trying some alternatives before having surgery. Then when Jan. 2019 rolled around and I was mentally ready, Dr. Alberto Carli and and his team prepared me, reassured me and guided me to a successful Total Left Hip Replacement. Dr Alberto Carli is knowledgeable, confident, and kind with a good sense of humor. He called me the day before surgery to check in and called my husband after the surgery to update him. He also visited me the morning of the surgery and checked in on me later in the day. The next day at home on a weekend he also called me. He has made himself and his office available to me with any questions I may have had. I just felt so taken care of that it is refreshing. It's been 2 and 1/2 weeks as I write this review - I am up and about and only using a cane when I go outside. I'm already taking short walks and no one knows unless I bring the cane that I just got a new hip!!
