Prior to Dr. Friedrich Boettner performing hip resurfacing surgery on me July 2018, I had gone from running 20 marathons and competitive league tennis and many other highly intense activities to not being able to walk 1 block without severe pain and a ridiculous limp. After every conceivable therapy/rehab/PT, I met with Dr. Boettner, and from looking at my MRI he immediately told me I needed hip surgery. Based upon my activity level, which I so badly wanted to resume one day, he recommended resurfacing. 6 months after surgery I was playing tennis and starting to build strength and endurance for 26.2 again. As of August I have returned to league tennis play - as well if not better than before the hip issues (others in the league call me the bionic hip guy). Even more astonishing, after a full training season of 35-45 miles a week I completed my first post-op marathon only 16 months after surgery just 5 days ago. And even more amazing is I didn’t just complete it, I ran almost as fast as I did in prior marathons. There are no words to express my gratitude for Dr. Boettner, Michele, the rest of his staff and all at HSS. Again, Thank you sooooooo much and I will leave you with a photo of me just prior to crossing the finish line.
